I'm a PhD in Spanish linguistics. My insterests are focused on Variation, Contact languages, Semantics, Discourse, Syntax and Corpus. Currently, I am finishing my thesis about factuality and syntax in Spanish (corpus based) in Universitat de Lleida (Spain). I have also worked as Spanish teacher for 3 years and as Linguistics teacher for 1 year. I always try to combine my linguistic knowledge of different subjects with the lessons, so that I bring the language of everyday life closer to the students. Take a look at my academic works and my professional projects and experience!
ABOUT ME
In 2012 I started my degree in Spanish Language and Literature at the University of La Rioja (UR). It was in the third year of my degree when I found out my vocation for Linguistics. A reflection of this is my dissertation: La sustitución del imperfecto de subjuntivo por el condicional en Logroño, published in 2018. After graduating, I did a Master's degree in Spanish Language: Research and Professional Practice at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM).
Thanks to this MA, my interest in research has arisen from a rich variety of subjects that I have taken, such as semantics and syntax, variation, discourse and corpus linguistics. It also allowed me to open up new fields and to carry out a doctoral thesis at the University of Lleida, under the guidance of Glòria Vázquez and the TAGFACT project. In it, and consequently in my thesis, we analyse how factuality is expressed in Spanish political journalistic texts.
It was during my Master's degree that I started in the world of ELE. During that year I had the opportunity to become a Spanish tutor at New York University (Madrid Campus) and to establish my teaching methodology. This allowed me to teach grammar and written interaction, as well as colloquial Spanish, for 2 consecutive years at the University of Lleida. In my classes I try to work on the 4 skills through different contents, very current and close to the students, so that they are motivated throughout the learning process and they themselves look for challenges to improve themselves.
